Terms and Conditions

Savanna So You Think You're a Comedian promotion.
CONSUMER PROMOTION (OFF-CONSUMPTION)

1. Campaign Overview


1. The purpose of the campaign to provide a platform towards the Savanna "So You Think You’re a Comedian " Comedy Showdown (hereafter referred to as "the Event").
2. The campaign serves as a build up to the Event. The Event is organized as a comedy competition, open to amateur and professional comedians to showcase their talent and compete for the coveted title of " Up and Coming Comedian of the Year” .
3. The campaign is organized and managed by ALIEN ART STUDIOS (AAS) (the Promoter).
4. and Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) shall serve as the main sponsor of the campaign and the competition through its “Savanna” brand.


2. Eligibility 


The promotional competition is open to participants over the age of eighteen (18) years, except any employee, director, member, partner, agent or consultant or any person directly or indirectly, who controls or is controlled by the Promoter , immediate family members, advertising agencies, advisers, dealers, suppliers and/or associated companies that are appointed/hired or outsourced for the purpose of organizing the campaign, the competition and the Event.


3. Campaign Mechanics
The campaign has three phases.


Phase one:
• Participants must register for auditions by submitting a 30 second video on the following link: https://www.namibia-breweries-limited.com/savannasytyc
• Participants will then receive an email and Whatsapp within 48 hours of registering confirming audition date, audition number and venue.
• Participants will only be shortlisted for auditions if they adhere to the guidelines as listed in this document.
• Auditions will take place at selected outlets nationwide.
• The top three (3) participants per Region (42 in total) will be selected and invited to proceed to phase two of the campaign.
• Participants will be judged based on the criteria listed in this document


Phase two:
• The top three (3) participants for Region (42 in total) will be entered into the social media public voting stage.
• The top fourteen (14) Participants from the public voting will be invited to perform at the Savanna Comedy Festival taking place in Windhoek on 2 November 2024.

• The top four (4) participants (of the 14) from the Festival will be entered into the “Savanna So You Think You a Comedian” Award at the Savanna Annual Namibian Comedy Awards in December 2024.
• Participants will be judged based on the criteria listed in this document 

 

Phase three:
• The top four (4) participants from the festival will be entered into the Comedy Awards under the “Savanna So You Think You a Comedian” Award.
• Voting for the awards will take place via public voting
• The grand prize winner will win N$50,000 cash and the title of “Savanna So You Think You 
a Comedian” Award.


4. Registration and Submission
All participants must follow the below steps to register


1. Record a 30 second video introducing yourself, your comedy style, region and town
2. Go to the following link to register and upload video https://www.namibia-brewerieslimited.com/savannasytyc
3. Participants will receive an email confirming submission of video and registration
4. The Promoter will review all submissions and will share a WhatsApp to participants confirming their audition dates and venues
5. The submission of the application form does not guarantee an entry into the auditions.
6. The participants will be selected by a panel of judges based on the criteria listed in this document.


5. Performance Guidelines


1. Vulgar, racist, explicit sexual, or any other offensive material is strictly prohibited and will result in immediate disqualification from the Event.
2. All material used in the performance must be original and not plagiarized from any other source.
3. The participants are responsible for obtaining all necessary permissions and licenses for any copyrighted material used in their performance.
4. The duration of the performance must not exceed 5 minutes for auditions. Any performance exceeding the time limit will result in a reduction of points by the judges.
5. The use of profanity must be kept to a minimum and should not offend any audience member.
6. Participant Responsibility: The Participant shall ensure that they are aware of and agree to adhere to guidelines highlighted by the Promoter including those set out in these terms and conditions, regarding appropriate content, language, and behaviour to minimize the
risk of offensive or harmful content during the campaign and any competition or Event.
7. The Participant shall be liable for any claims, demands, actions, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, or expenses arising out of the gross negligence or willful misconduct contrary to those agreed upon under these terms and condition.


6. Judging Criteria


1. Originality – The use of unique and original material will be given more points.
2. Delivery – The ability to deliver jokes and punchlines with proper timing and expression will be evaluated by the judges.
3. Audience Interaction – The ability to engage and entertain the audience will be taken into consideration.
4. Overall Performance – The judges will evaluate the overall performance, including stage presence, creativity, confidence, and comedic timing.


7. Grand Prizes
 

The winner of the campaign will be awarded a cash prize of N$50,000 and the title of the“Savanna So You Think You're a Comedian”Award by public voting process at the Savanna Annual Namibian Comedy Awards.


8. Rights


1. By participating in the campaign, the participants grants the Savanna "So you Think You're a ComedianComedy Showdown” the right to use their name, image, and performance for promotional purposes.
2. The Promoter shall have the right to obtain prior written confirmation from the Participants of their intention to comply with the Competition terms and conditions.
3. The material used in the performance remains the intellectual property of the participants, however, they grant Savanna “So You Think You're a Comedian Comedy Showdown” the right to use the material for promotional and marketing purposes.


9. Code of Conduct


All participants, judges, and audience members are expected to maintain a respectful and professional environment throughout the campaign period. Any type of disruptive or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in removal from the campaign and the competition and/or events related to the competition.


10. Disclaimer


The Promoter reserves the right to cancel, modify, or postpone the Event for any reason. In the event of a cancellation, all participants will be notified via email.


11. Consideration and Payment
 

The Parties agree that there shall be no payment consideration due to any Participant unless directed under this terms and conditions.
 

12. Liability


i. The “Savanna So You Think You're a Comedian Comedy Showdown”will not be held liable for any injuries, damages, or losses incurred during the Event. All participants are responsible for their own safety and well-being.


ii. The “Savanna So You Think You're a Comedian Comedy Showdown”, its promoters, organizers and sponsors are not liable for the content and views expressed by the comedians.
iii. The Promoter agrees that:

a. NBL, its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates (collectively, the "Indemnified Parties") shall not liable for any for any claims of defamation, libel, slander, arising out of or related to any offensive language, words, jokes, or messages used during the campaign, the competition and any subsequent show, or any other tortious act resulting from the content of the Participants during or
after the campaign, the competition, the Event or any comedy show associated with this campaign.
b. The Promoter shall indemnify, defend, and hold the Indemnified Parties harmless from any claims, demands, actions, liabilities, losses, damages, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorney's fees and expenses that ensue as result of its conduct and/or the Participants conduct during the campaign period, the competition, the Event or any comedy show associated with this campaign.


13. Agreement


By participating in the campaign, all participants agree to abide by these terms and conditions and any future updates or modifications made by ASS.
